Shadow Vine Red is an equal parts blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, plus 10% Cabernet Franc. Its aromas of lilacs and leather should be a band name, with ripe Rainier cherries acting as an opening act. The flavors are a darker mix of elderberries and dates, with touches of black tea tannins and sauteed white button mushrooms. The wine's mildly chewy tannins offer plenty of support.
The Wahluke Slope 2023 vintage was marked by excellent quality, ripe fruit, balanced acidity and rich textures - this is especially true for Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Lower yields produced more concentrated flavors. 2023 wines will be great for drinking today or cellaring for 2-5 years.
